Noreen Kay Green

Service of Remembrance for Noreen Kay Green, 62, of Lodgepole, SD were held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bison, SD.  Lynn Hall, CRE, Paula Zavitz, CRE and Episcopal Priest, Jason Lucas officiated and burial followed at the Bison Cemetery near Bison SD.  Visitation was held Friday, May 8, 2026, followed by a Gathering of Family and Friends at the First Presbyterian Church in Bison, SD.

Noreen Kay Green was born in Hettinger, ND to Keith and Bonnie (Sigman) Hanson on March 4, 1964. She attended grade school in Prairie City, SD and graduated from Bison High School in 1982. She attended one year of college in Dickinson, ND taking a nursing class. On May 28, 1983, she was married to John Green. To this union, two sons were born; Lance and Lynn.

During her high school years, she was an avid basketball and softball player as well as being a cheerleader for the boys’ basketball team. Her hobbies included crocheting and baking. Her bread and buns were awesome, as well as her cookies and caramel rolls.

She was a janitor at Prairie City and Union School and also did substitute teaching. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bison where she served as the Treasurer for many years, was a Deacon at one time and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Prairie City Fire Department where she served as Treasurer.  She served on the Cash Township board as Treasurer. Noreen worked for the Nurse Corp through the Hettinger, ND Hospital until 1995 when she was diagnosed with MS.

She was a 100% ranch wife working beside her husband, John, doing all types of jobs until the MS forced her to be wheelchair bound in 2016. She was still able to do the house work and cooking for the family until recently.  

Noreen, age 62 of Lodgepole, SD passed away on May 2, 2026 at the Monument Hospital in Rapid City, SD surrounded by her loved ones. 

Noreen is survived by her husband John of almost 43 years, sons Lance (Jason Lucas) and Lynn. Brother Ed of North Sioux City, SD, Kevin, Keith, Jr and Suzan. Five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law as well as several niece and nephews.  

Noreen was proceeded in death by her parents, Keith and Bonnie Hanson and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oliver and Gwyneth Green.
